Thanks to my knees, I’m doing less slope soaring than I was and decided I’d like to have a go at the F3L postal competition. With a sizeable building programme under way, I ordered an ARF Medina and a Purito kit, together with everything I needed for a new bungee to replace the one I haven’t used since 1990, and a laser-cut plywood reel to keep it on. It all arrived faster than seems possible. The Medina went together without hitches, and a couple of weeks after ordering I’m ready to go! Looks like the weather isn’t going to play ball for the next few days, so I’ll get on with building the bungee reel.

Bought one of these bobbins to replace a cheap plastic substitute I was using. Bobbin is very well made and well thought out. A little on the pricey side but as with everything else you get what you pay for.

Very well made, all the joints are tight interference fits. I assembled it using a Thor mallet and it didn’t need any glue. I used it last night for the first time. The robust bearings won’t wear out and it’s easy to use.
